Newb question

Hey guys, I kinda already know what the answer to my question is but i wanted to see if i could get some more input. I bought a set of 29 inch BFG mud terrains. I LOVE these tires. They are super aggressive and i can trudge through just about anything. My problem is on my stock XJ i find that i am bottoming out on damn near everything. If its not my front axle dragging or getting caught when i go through a rut its my back axle. My question here is how can i get more axle clearance? Im guessing ill need taller tires?

That's it man, and just be aware of where your dif pumpkins are when you hit those ruts. Solid axles front and back. You can lift her to the clouds, taller tires are the only way to get more clearance at the axles.

yes taller tires and if you have a stock dana 30 then 35 tires are the tallest you can get with out breaking stuff, but you will have to trim the wheel openings. if you wheel alot then get chrome molly axle shafts and strongr axle u joints.

Wrong.. You can break things on 31s.. Depends on how you drive it, but I can absolutely promise you if you run 35s expect to break parts on the Dana 30.

That is a complete contradiction.. It all depends on how and where you wheel. 35's on a 30 has proven to be reliable.

A 3 to 4 inch lift and a set of 33s will get you most places you can want to go.But just remember the higher you lift the more things you need and the cost goes up.

Very true I run a set of 35's off road part of the time on some trails and haven't broken anything yet on my D30 or Chy 8.25 both locked and stock axles, but advise to carry a spare.

This is what I have ran for several years first with a 3" lift then a 4 1/2" one, it cost me a lot more money to increase that extra 1 1/2" of lift than you would believe to do it right.
