New XJ Suspension question

So Im new on here and seeing as how this is specific issue to my xj I figured a new thread would be fine.

So My new Xj has a lift on it my guess is 4.5-6 in but im not sure. In any event there seems to be the old dampener body inside the coil in the front. Is that weird? the dampener is not complete and it seems to me that it should be that way. Does anyone know why it might be that way? Any help would be nice.

Thanks Travis

This?
Sorry its sideways but not in real life....

Yes Thats exactly it.

Is it that way because otherwise the coil has nothing else to abut to? Seems like it could hinder coil travel and cause issues.

Thanks Travis

What you're referring to is the bump stop (jounce stop). This limits the suspensions up-travel. If there was nothing there to limit the up-travel, your tire would eat your fender/body and other kinds of damage would occur. This is factory on every single XJ ever produced and is indeed not specific to your cherokee.
