Default New jeep turbo questions

Well finally got about 15k saved up. Gunna go with a 99 cherokee
Gunna get it turboed. Wonderin if anyone has experience with with a specific kit that's good. Also do I need to do any engine mods to accommodate boost? Been told no and been told yes don't know who to trust..
And I'm seeing on Alot of these kits they don't have intercoolers. Doesn't seem smart to me but hell maybe maybe a mechanic can tell me why it's not needed or if I should throw one on anyway.

The motors not your biggest issue the computer is... Whether or not you'll need to do motor modification is going to depend on the turbo system and it's needs, and what you hope to gain from it.
Never considered doing a turbo in a Jeep. Turbo lag would be a detriment to most of the wheeling I do anyway. Bottom end power, off idle torque, is more important to me than WOT hp. I don't generally get running starts at stuff.

Why would the computer be a problem? I notice the 505 kit has some good reviews. And it comes with some computer stuff.

It's my dd I'm going for uniqueness more than anything. I have a dedicated trail rig. I'm Wonderin if a super charger would be a better investment. Which I know i would need to mod the hood for it to fit but would it be more noticeable driving around town and on Highway than a turbo? Driven Alot of turbo diesels never been in something supercharged.

What kind of power are you hoping to get out of it? And what will the Jeep be used for (wheeling, dd, etc)? Personally, I would go a different route for power, but I'm a little curious to see this done.

Because the computer controls EVERYTHING on that jeep.

Our motors don't like high RPMs but yes you can turbo it. I think the SC is more suited for the 4.0 seeing as it provides boost instantly and is better for low end power as well.

True. That's why the higher end kits come with ECU plugins or stand alones to provide the adequate fuel needed.

The Renix models are easier to adjust seeing as a lot of sensors used are Chevy style. IE, you can put a higher bar MAP sensor from a Camaro or early corvette to read the extra manifold pressure.

Imagine I'd have the same issue with a supercharger right? But if it comes with with a stand alone then it shouldn't be a problem..?

Turbos need to be "spoiled up" to produce boost. Honestly, Boostwerks (vendor) here can awnser a few turbo questions as he builds kits and manifolds for them.
