New here. i have a question about leaf springs being moved
I just traded my 79 truck for this 92 jeep, a 12 foot john boat with 2 motors and a feed welder.
the jeep seems to have some custom modifacations. front and rear bumpers, 4.5 inch lift, quick disconnects, and the leaf springs seem to me moved.
I was curious why they were moved. I'm sure it has a benefit but I don't know what it is.
thanks in advance.

They have those brackets on the back of the leaf springs so that you can adjust your shackle angle. Some leaf packs are different lengths and will cause odd angles with your shackles making it ride weird.
I think you will enjoy your XJ, looks like a pretty decent rig. Plus it has a pair of truck nuts. Score!

my mother in law gave me the nuts. i had them on my truck for a long time. i figured the jeep would enjoy them too.

upon further inspection i notice that the previous owner aslo replaced the tie rods with thicker ones and customized the doors so they come off just like a jeep wrangler.

Awesome! I just purchased a ZJ Tie rod and TRE for my xj, its considerably more stout than my stock set up. Should be a good wheeling rig!
