new guy suspension ???
Just picked up a (original owner) 1993 2dr 4x4 with 138k on the dial as a daily for $1300 when Im in NYC on business (damn rentals where killing me) and I wanted to upgrade the OEM suspension for the BEST possible ride on these crappy NYC (Brooklyn) street.
Stock height is fine with me but Ill consider lifting if I have to, to achieve this goal. Obviously, I wont be off-roading or trailing but if you ever driven in NYC, it might feel like one of the rockiest trails ever.
So my question is:
1)Should I just replace the OEM shocks and springs and keep it moving
or
2) is there upgraded stocks and springs I can get that will give me a better ride.
I just want this jeep to take a pounding without having to worry and gives a nice ride.
Also what about tires? Currently I have new wranglers (came on the jeep) on the steel gray stockers. Im gonna roll on these until it time for new rubber.
My goal is the best ride on crappy streets and can take a BEATING!
Thanks guys, new jeep guy here!

A Jeep isn't really the best idea if all you want is a smooth ride,
but anyway stick with OEM springs replace yours if you are sagging especially in the rear
and just get some upgrade OE style shocks, when I was rolling stock I really liked the Monroe reflex shocks, I am actually trying to find some that will fit my lift
lifting won't get you any comfort but replacing worn parts will, lifted my jeep and now it is so much stiffer than it used to be

you should consider Rusty 3" kit, full leaf spring kit...
my buddy has one and it rides AWESOME!
it is also cheap...
then run a ice set of 30" or 31" tires... it is a mild lift with great looks and it will do amazing on the road...
