I'm hoping my engine doesn't die anytime soon but when it does I was thinking about putting a different motor in it. I was thinking a deisel.

What engines would fit in my cherokee with little modification? And has anyone put a deisel in a cherokee?

i was thinkin about doing a deisel swap in mine, but didnt know that any deisel xjs were even made. is there a way to import a motor from one of the stock deisels, or do you know what the motor is called or how to get ahold of one? also would it mount up to the stock trans and such?

if you want to put a diesel in a cherokee with as little fab as possible your going to lose horse power, especially with the xj diesels. i know Mercedes bends makes a car that had a diesel in it. not sure of the make and model but it takes no fab work at all except for a adaption plate form the trans to the motor. thats the easiest best one ive found and they still lost about 35 hp. i say its worth is though. i would take 30 mpg anyday

The mercedez deisel engine is thw om617. But im not sure what car its out of either. But it is a turbo diesel so im sure u could do a few mods to it and regain that 35hp and still have close to 25mpgs or better. Do u know where to get that plate to mount the engine to the trans?
