Default New brakes

If I swap my stock 96 brakes for some wj brakes will it be better or about the same? I read that they have better stoping ability but is it noticeable?

What's the issue with the brakes you have now? Too big tires?

Have a Dana 35 or Chrysler 8.25 rear end?

A WJ knuckle swap will get you bigger brakes with more stopping power, but it's a big job. It converts to crossover steering, which requires an OTK track bar mount. You also should swap to a WJ master cylinder/brake booster, and disc brakes in the rear. This swap is on my to-do list.

With that setup you will have seine kick-*** stopping power, but it really isn't necessary unless you have some big meats that you're tryin to stop.

You can also use "Hawk" pads and shoes for better stopping power. I have been using them for years on race cars and HP street cars.

No stock tires just the back is walled for subs and when it's loaded with the extra batteries and subs and amps it sags and doesn't stop that good. Looking to upgrade the brakes and add a little lift to at least the rear to make up for all the weight.

96 Jeep Xj all stock except 320amp alt. It has a huge *** box in the back. Because of the box it sags in the back. What would be the best thing to do to help it out. I.E suspension lift? Body lift? Plus it doesn't stop like it used to because of the weight what brakes would be better for it? And should I up the wheel size?

XJ's are unibody, you cant do body lifts. You can get new leaf springs considering yours are 18 years old most likely. Bigger tires will give you more issues because you'll be cramming them in an already saggy rear and does nothing to help sag. You can get a smaller box. You can do a full suspension lift if you want. How much are you willing to spend to fix the issue? haha Cheapest: Take out he extra weight, Next cheapest: Get new OEM leaf springs, Most Expensive: Suspension lift. Somebody is going to recommend Helper springs and/or add-a-leafs, I wouldn't recommend either. Fender trimming would be silly just to accommodate subs.

You can do the ZJ/KJ rear disc brake swap. Then get some new rotors and good pads like EBC green stuff or Hawk HPS.
