Default New? ATP exhaust manifold came in to day...

Just got my ATP exhaust manifold from Rockauto today. I have heard some stories about some adjustments having to be made to make these fit, we will see. As well as receiving rusted and used looking parts. It did come in rusty but it is nothing a quick wire brush and some high temp paint will take care of. Kinda funny, this is from their site...

"Our header is constructed from stainless steel making it rust resistant"

Cheap stainless steel. Just so they can sell them as "stainless steel"

There are many, many different alloys considered to be stainless steel. The cheaper the alloy, the less chromium the material has and the more you will see a layer of oxidation when it is exposed to the elements. The good news is that oxidation layers on stainless materials is a passive process, that is once the initial layer is formed, the oxidation does not continue to propagate deeper into the metal, unlike the active oxidation process we've all observed on carbon steels.

Same with mine, had a couple rust spots all over. And yeah, it can be a pain to get to fit, nothing a hammer won't fix

Not really because the chrome Banks header is double the price for the same product.

Had to beat up the #6 cylinder header pipe so the Intake would mount flush. Hoping it doesn't interfere with the motor mount when we drop this engine in!

It's made out of 409 stainless which is an exhaust grade stainless steel that is used by most of the auto Mfg's. for their exhaust systems. The flanges are regular mild steel and will rust up if you don't paint them with some high heat paint.

It won't, it actually sits pretty closer to the motor than the mount.

That's like the "Ceramic Coating" some of these people sell on their headers, SS/CC Headers for $169 lol. I pay up to $500 a set to get my headers coated and have paid as much as much as 2k for the last custom set.

You really do get what you pay for.
