neutral safety wire in manual tran.

I have a remote start alarm in my 99 xj. I't a manual and with my clifford remote start I have it set up in manual mode. Its a pain to remote start before I get out of the car each time to program the manual start mode. I would like to change it to automatic mode and build a switch to detect whether or not its in gear.

Before I build the ring switch for neutral detection. Does anyone know if there is already a wire in my manual for that? possible near the shift light or on transmission itself?

I'm also interested in this. I put one on my 95 5 speed and want a safety so I dont try and start it in gear. Right now I only use it in the morning before work so I can go out and check if I'm not sure. Theres a few threads about building your own if you google it. The best one I've seen has two springs that fit snug against the shifter handle under the boot that complete the ground circuit to the remote start module. This way, if you have it in gear only one of the springs will be in contact with the shifter handle and the circuit will be incomplete which wont allow it to start. I might try this.... I'll keep you updated if I do.

As far as a wire already in the trans I dont know of any that are already there.

I made a solution. i set it up so that if it fails by chance, it will not remote start. It has been working like a charm. Let me know if i should make a write up.
