Need a 'very slight' lift to my XJ
All:
I have a 1999 Cherokee (XJ) - The badging indicates a 'Classic', but I believe that it is a 'Sport'. It has the 16" rims off of a 2000 - 2001 'Classic' on it.
I use it as my daily driver and never travel 'off road'. It looks a bit low to me and i was hoping to give it a slight lift just to make less 'old fashion and dumpy', I think a 1" to 1-1/2" would be just enough.
Any suggenstions?

run a comanche shackle in the rear get you around 1" rear and run a spacer up front. if you went the junkyard you could pry find everything you need for less than $50 look up budget boost

I have a 3.5 inch aal rough country lift on my xj, I would much rather have a budget lift than my 3.5 inch aal, It should be easier on all the control arms etc, but I plan on going to either a 4.5 or 6 inch long arm. Dont forget to get an alignment after you need to get one, not want, NEED.
Heres what I believe youre looking for. You can decide the brand though.

How old is the suspension? maybe its just time to replace everything. I personally dont like coil spacers and only think you should do a shackle lift, if your correcting a bad shackle angle. lots of companies make 2 inch spring, both coils and leafs, order some of those, find some shocks off of a Rubicon JK and your set, itll ride quite nice also, although you might have to do shackle relocation brackets to get the optimal ride

Not cheap but look at the "Old Man Emu" brand of kits they have some very low 1 1/2" up complete lifts for Cherokee's and Grand Cherokee's. I have been looking at one for my 04 GC a 2".

assuming you still have the original suspension.--your rear leafs are probably worn out and sagging, shocks are way overdue to be changed, and depending on mileage you coils may be worn too. I'd go with old man Emu like Fred/NOAZZ suggested, but it's going to cost you about 800-1k

As previously mentioned OME makes a 1.5" HD coil and a 1.75" soft coil. Rancho makes a 1.5" leaf pack. Both can be found on Quadratec (and elsewhere).
My 99' is on 3.5" (more of a light weight overlander desert/mountain build), and I'm putting the 1.5 rancho rear & 1.5" on my 91" as a DD so I can run 235/75/15's so I can clear snow chains.
With the new springs you get the basis for a much better suspension setup than doing shackles/spacers. I had 2" shackle/spacer lift on the 99' for a few months last winter before I rebuilt the entire suspension...it sucked. It let me clear thick diamond snow chains but thats about all it was good for.
