Need a SYE
I know I need a SYE and new driveshaft. I already have a shop lined up to do it. The problem is that I can't have it done for at least a month. What problems am I looking at or will it be ok to wait so long?
I just bought this 2000 XJ sport. Here are some specs:
Front:
4.5" RE coils and adjustable coil spacers (6.5" of lift)
RE adjustable tracbar, short arm LCAs (stock UCAs) and sway bar discos
Drop pitman arm and looks like PO had TREs and ball joints done recently
Smittybilt winch bumper and XRC8 winch with synthetic line
LP D30, stock gears
Rear:
RE 4.5" full leaf packs with 2" shackles (7" of lift)
NP231 with no TC drop
8.25 w/ stock gears

You don't need to pay a shop to do this, it's pretty simple.
Here ya go....

Enter Cherokee Forum in the coupon field at checkout for additional savings on the SYE.

This above post is Frank, a vendor trying to be helpful. He means no advertisement unless it is his own. He is trying to help you avoid the shop who will probably charge you an exorbitant fee.

I understand and not to be a d$&@, but that doesn't answer my question at all.
"I already have a shop lined up to do it. The problem is that I can't have it done for at least a month. What problems am I looking at or will it be ok to wait so long?"

Bad vibes that can cause u-joint failure, pinion bearing failure, seal failures.
Reconsider having the work done by a shop. It really is an easy install and you'll have the satisfaction of having do e it yourself....regardless of where you get the parts.

I'm sure it's nothing I can't handle, I just don't have the time with work and a 3 year old requiring nonstop attention

A month with that steep of an incline. I ran my 01 with 5" of lift and that was with a TC drop and I thought I would shake the DS right out its mounts.
Probably be easier to go frankz route and hire a nanny for 5hrs. I was so happy when I tackled my hack n tack. Feels good to go 75 with no vibes or issues

Don't get me wrong I like serious offroads prices and products but if your looking to go the cheaper route go to the JY and grab a front drive shaft for the rear of yours. Been running this set up with a SYE and dead even if 6 inch lift for well over a year and no problems at all. Just my input…

With the amount of lift you have an SYE and shims both really should be used for best results, I did so with only 4 1/2" of lift. A front driveshaft will work but I had one made for mine for only a $199 because of the amount of splines left showing. I bought my SYE on special for $99 saved a few bucks there.
I had my SYE installed also by a 4x4 shop it was cheap to replace for the chain, install the SYE and shims for $150. They were doing other work on my jeep as well while in the shop.
Like you I had no desire to install mine either mostly health issues on this end, but like the shop where I go they have over 30+ yrs. of experience in the same shop and owner.
