Need new springs/shocks.what to buy? OME? OEM?
My 99 130k mile np231, 4L, aw4 auto, d30hp, 8.25r needs new rear springs bad. Also the shox need replaced. Just put on some goodyear dura track 235's and they are amplifying the problem. I always carry a toolbox and near full size spare in the back. Plus in the summer I fill the back with camping gear.
I want to replace all the springs and shox. I was thinking about doing a small OME lift. As their HD rear springs are supposed to ride very well. But damm they are spendy. Is there a cheap way using another brand of shox or something? I don't really need any lift. But it seems like close to the same money to get an inch or two of lift.
I don't do any extreme off road stuff but I hit a lot of pot-holes and ditches on national forest roads.

A buddy of mine swapped out his rear shocks with Monroe Sensa-Trac Load Adjustable Shock Absorber's and he loves it. Of course, nobody rides in his back seat either. My rear leafs were toasted as well as my shocks. It sagged so bad that with about 300-500 lbs. in the rear with the seat down I was riding on the tires. Thus the lift I installed that my wife is still pissed about............

Have you considered an OEM replacement leaf spring set with a lift shackle? You get a mild lift and oem spring rate/ride quality. For the front you can get an inch spacer and not have to alter the rest of the suspension. I dont have a price but shackle/spacer kits can be had relatively cheap.

Never thought about a shackle lift. I've always heard they were trouble. Kind of worred about destroying another set of stock rear leafs. Not sure if a heavy duty factory height pack will ride very well. The HD OME springs are said to ride great.

OEM spring options
Quadratec.com-I have their catalog (order it online for free!). They sell three different OEM rear leaf springs for 84-01 XJs. They range in price from $74.99 to $114.99 each + S&H. The heaviest dury replacements are $99.99 each. They are sold based on the arch-though I'm guessing that's unloaded.
