the point where a different carrier is neede to upgrade gears search thick ring gears its a way around changeing them

Carrier brakes are different for each axle. Front D30 is 3.73 and numerically lower and 4.10 and numerically higher. D35 is 3.55 and numerically higher and 3.20something and numerically lower. 8.25 uses the same carrier no matter what gear ratio.

Guessing you mean waggy and do you mean full size or the XJ waggy. Full size would be 44 front and rear, don't think they went to M20 rear till around 90. Break for the 44 is 3.73 and 4.10. If by chance you have a M20 rear it's 2.73 down and 3.08 and up.
