Normally 3.73 down, and 3.73 up. Like 3.73 and down tape one carrier, and 3.73 and up take another.

What axle? Probably a 3.73 and numerically up carrier for whatever axle yoh have. Where are you getting gears?

Carrier brakes are different for each axle. Front D30 is 3.73 and numerically lower and 4.10 and numerically higher. D35 is 3.55 and numerically higher and 3.20something and numerically lower. 8.25 uses the same carrier no matter what gear ratio.

Guessing you mean waggy and do you mean full size or the XJ waggy. Full size would be 44 front and rear, don't think they went to M20 rear till around 90. Break for the 44 is 3.73 and 4.10. If by chance you have a M20 rear it's 2.73 down and 3.08 and up.
