Default need a back seat

hey everyone, I picked up an 88 cherokee with no back seat and would like to put one in it. I checked with the dealership and they said its discontinued so I am thinking pull a part or aftermarket are my options. With that being said are there any year differences with the rear seats that I need to watch out for? Also has anyone fabbed up mounts for an aftermarket bench like corbeau or mastercraft? Thanks a lot for any help

Ian

I think you need one out of 84-96 Cherokee. I don't know if they changed with the 97+'s new body style. I don't think there is aftermarket support for the rear. A junkyard is gonna be the best bet or a local part out. Rear seats are usually in really good shape. 2 door might even have seats in best shape.

I have the seat out of a '96 in my '98. No issue bolting them in the rear.

You can also bolt a CJ, YJ or TJ seat in there. Move it as far back as you need for legroom.

A good JY will sell the rear XJ seat for less than $40.

I knew someone would have tried the swap. Good stuff. If I remember right, the rear seat is held in with Torx bolts. If so, replace them with regular bolts.

Personally I wouldn't wanna pay more than $20 or $25 for a back seat. Mine is usually folded anyway.

All of my seats were free. That is one of the benefits of being in a local club.

The CJ, YJ, & TJ seat are not a direct bolt in. The ZJ fronts are but the rear takes some massaging.
