Default my B-body 8 3/4 axle in my xj

I know alot about this axle, its same gearing 3.55 as my xj flange to flange is .8" shorter than my 8.25. And perch to perch is half" difference. Trying to figure out if ill have to swap yoke to run xj drivshaft or what is easiest way to accomplish this axle swap. I dont have slip yoke eliminator yet so dont want to have custom shaft done. Looking for info from people who have done this swap. Thanks

With it having a larger ring gear that'll put the yoke closer to the t-case so you drive shaft may be to long.

you have a 8.25 and you want to swap in the 8 3/4? not worth the effort.

8 3/4 are very strong, depending on which case it has they were capable of handling the hp and tq from big block V8's up to 440's

A 489 or 742 case with a suregrip might be worth the swap but if you have a 8.25 now, why the swap? Yes the non c clip axles and removable center section are nice , but imo just go 8.8 with disc from an explorer

Ordering q78s soon. got a Dana 60 im narrowing for my 69 coronet so want to put 8 3/4 under jeep.Jeeps rear end is going under 65 barracuda. The 742 case has matching ratio to Jeep and much stronger, and same bolt pattern and is close to stock width. Just trying to figure out what driveshaft options are from people who have done this swap. 8 3/4 will outlast any 8.8

I was finally able to find some info on the swap. Guy used stock driveshaft but a combination u-joint (3310 0760) ill have to check again but believe that was it. Being lifted my drive shaft its a little short so should make up the difference. Not sure what Trans this guy was running, was an old thread. Ill have to flip spring perches. Seems like a cheaper option to a nine inch with more ground clearance.
