Hey all..am planning to install an msd ignition on my 91 l6 4.0 h.o...did anyone experienced bad issues with it ??

Waste of time.

If it had a coil pack it would already have MSD.

I'm using iridium plugs (less conductive than copper) gapped to 0.050". A stock coil would not have provided enough oompf to jump that gap reliably, so I'm using an MSD coil. If we're talking about the MSD control module, I can't imagine that ever being worth the money in an XJ unless you're building some kind of super duper XJ. Even then it may easily still not be worth it. |
I have it on mine from Kolak's ignition kit. I can't say it made any difference but it's nice being able to gap the plugs bigger.

Depends. If you're just slapping an MSD coil in with no other changes.... waste of time and money.

A stroker is just more displacement. Your ignition doesn't care how long your stroke is. What would matter is spark plug composition, spark plug gap, compression ratio, boost, or high RPM.

Okkkaayyyy guys thanks for the advices... no msd lol

I've ran MSD setups for the last 25 yrs the full deal, ON RACE CARS!!
I can see no possible reason to run one on a 4.0 unless blown, NOS or Turbo charged and that would be with a boost controller in the setup for completion. JMO but a waste of money more well spent on "Fuzzy Dice" or something else worthwhile. |

No reason to run it. Also a bit more complex on the install, I did look into it...but decided it just isn't worth it. As Fred stated, get you some of them fuzzy dice, maybe a hula girl for the dash... |

LMAO And before you ask... https://www.google.com/webhp?sourcei...girl+dashboard haha Also: |
If you (OP) want to do something, indexing and/or sidegapping are both free (well, indexing washers cost pennies). There may easily be no detectable difference, but it's something you can do to occupy yourself for a bit, certainly won't do any harm (though sidegapping may shorten plug life slightly), and doesn't cost anything.
