I would have so say, it would probably be a huge undertaking. Your 87 and the 99 have almost nothing in common. All the wiring would need to be replaced. The 99 engines Has a coil on plug ignition system vs the old cap and rotor. You would need a new ecu, exhaust, and I imagen many more things. It’s not impossible, nothing is, but it’s a lot of work

if your gutting something to throw it in yours, your gonna need a lot of parts. I don't think most folks would try sir.
