Got an 87 Cherokee, tryna swap it’s 2.0l to an 4.0l 99 Cherokee motor. Is this possible without big modification?

I would have so say, it would probably be a huge undertaking. Your 87 and the 99 have almost nothing in common. All the wiring would need to be replaced. The 99 engines Has a coil on plug ignition system vs the old cap and rotor. You would need a new ecu, exhaust, and I imagen many more things. It’s not impossible, nothing is, but it’s a lot of work

Your post isn't making sense. A 2.0L?

Are you talking about using a 99 4.0 in an 87?

If so, it is easily done.

A 2.5 to a 4.0, not simple.

I kinda wondered that myself. Hence, I offered no answer until we get clarification.

if your not 4.0 to 4.0 ide loose the idea if you don't have good reason. Harness and ecu are a big problem likely.

if your gutting something to throw it in yours, your gonna need a lot of parts. I don't think most folks would try sir.
