Managing tranny temps
So I pulled the carpet up to remove/manage rust and bedlined the floor. During normal driving of any type the floor on the hump is warm but not hot due to air flow keeping things cool.
However... When in traffic(Southern California) or most recently the border line for US/MEXICO I am at a stop/idle more than moving and the hump gets crazy hot.
Being a manual, is there anything anyone has done to manage this heat? I would love to keep the carpet out too. I was trying to see if there was a mini 12v fan that would be water proof I could mount underneath on a switch for the times I am stuck in traffic but couldn't really find anything in a quick Google search.
Any ideas or solutions is greatly appreciated. Thanks

I doubt the heat you are feeling is actually from the trans if your sitting in traffic with a manual. More likely the exhaust or cat is heating the floor boards.

Well the temp from the cat and exhaust is unbearable right on top of the cat no matter the temp outside or if I'm moving but when I start moving the temp on the hump drop instantly and it's the same temp at the base of the hump on both sides so that is why I figure it's the trans.
I am going to wrap the cat and pipe around it to manage that temp so I hope you are right.

That insulation is there for a reason and you have found out why its one of those things that you live with if you remove everything from the floors.
If you do decide to wrap the CAT and exhaust system just plan on replacing it every 1 1/2 -2 years because it will have rusted out from all the moisture trapped inside during cool down.
