Lund moon visor. Mounting and wiring questions

Hello. With hope I get a response to help me.
first question. When mounting the visor what should I do in order to make sure it will not cause leaks?
Second. Should I take the headliner out when I mount it and should I use nuts and bolts?
Third. What should I wire the lights into? Like off the daytime running lights or on their own switch?
Fourth. Anyone happen to have wiring diagrams?
Thank you all! With hopes my comrades Pathenry or Cruiser54 will read this since I have faith either of you have a soild answer!!!! Both of you have helped tremendously over time! Sorry for others who have helped I do not have everyone's name on here known too well.

Well by experience i have a moon visor but it has no lights on it. I would like to in the future add some marker lights on it but for now its painted and on my jeep.

I used self tapping screws that went into the roof of the jeep, first i dotted where the holes went. Drilled a small hole, applied some marine sealant to the drilled holes, and applied sealant around the bottom of the visor ( circle of sealant where the bolt would go through) before putting it on the roof. No leaks to this day.

I would take off the headliner for just in case, luckily or not i already had no headliner so that was an easy check off the list.

As for wiring i think it would be convenient for it to turn on with the daytime lights but me personally i would give them their own switch, but that is the easier process. At least how i see it.

I think there's specific visor hardware on eBay designed for this.

I also used self tappers right into the roof. Pilot drilled first. I put a rtv on/around each hole before tightening everything down. No leaks to report.

For the wiring I would definitely tap into the running lights. Run the wires through the roof as well.

Yeah I looked into the mounting hardware reminded me of the license plate hardware at stores like Advance. I plan to order the hardware offline and try to use the Marine sealant. Swap it all to LEDs and wire it straight into the running lights. I love the responses thank you all! May not be until summer before I install since I have body work and painting I plan to do plus putting a pirate flag up for my headliner. I will post pictures when I do finish it. Also looking into maybe cutting small squares and bolting louver vents for air flow like I've read has been an issue for some. I haven't found the vents I want yet nor have I decided on cutting the visor to add some. I like the idea behind it to make sure it doesn't get ripped off by the wind. Lord knows how windy Indiana has gotten this past month id hate to install it and get it ripped off first time cruising haha
i know it's not steel and taking the XJ out i may destroy it but hey I'm jealous of the Dakota next door with one I love the look it gives!
