Default Lunchbox locker

Looking at getting a couple of lunchbox lockers and want to know people personal experience with the different kinds. Install, noise, effectiveness, onroad and offroad manners, problems and anything else you have experienced.

Ran Aussies front and rear and loved them. My lockrights never worked right if at all and my current Spartan lasted about 8 rides.

I run an aussie in the front, and a spartan in the rear. I like them both, but I prefer the aussie

If you live where it snows not the best of ideas to have one in the rear, how ever having one up front and only using it when needed is nice. Good luck

I run a Lock-Right in the front and a No-Slip in the rear. I only have two trips on the Lock-Right, but so far, so good. I've had the No-Slip for over 2 years now and no issues with it either, nor did the guy I bought it off of. Install was straight forward on both and I ran into no issues.

I have a disco axle in front, so on the road there is no input from the front locker. The rear locker is pretty much invisible on the road, but I'm so used to driving with it at this point, who knows. It does unload on occasion if I'm throttling hard and let off the gas down the highway. I know it freaked me out the first few times it did it, but at this point a passenger would need to mention it for me to take notice. No issues with snow, but ice is a different story... then again, what does good on ice with mud tires on?

Off road, I've had no issues thus far. Turning can be a pain at times with the front axle engaged and there are times I wish I had a posi-lock so 2lo was an option.

i run a lock-rite in my rear 44 now for about 10 years, not a single problem, and i occasionally drive it in our canadian winters.

i had a lock-rite in the front disco axle for a bit, snapped too many u-joints in a half a season, so i just removed it.
now have a solid axle in the front, installed locker, it wouldn't unlock. not sure why, so i removed it again.

i like the clicking sound of the locker when turning, makes people think my jeep is broken, but only i know it's my money talking. lol.

Good to know. I've been figuring on selling a NIB one I've never used for a AMC 20 rear and been wondering about a fair price.

I have lock rights on sale for a great price.. :-)

But as for what I would run.
Spartan in the rear (Much stronger)
Lock Right in the front (more forgiving and doesnt want to stay engaged as much so drives better on the street when not engaged).

Front locker is the way to go. Even on the street.

X2 as long as it's an auto/lunchbox locker or a selectable. But realy locking the front and rear is where it's at

Lock Right up front
Welded rear.

Not much street driving but the few miles on the highway in mine very little noise and invisible to me on highway. In 4-low turning radius is alot less but manageable. Rear obviously chirps. My lock right has been extremely tough. It started out new in a Dana 35. I then made it work somehow in my 8.25 and then decided to weld rear and put it in the D30. When I pulled it out to put up front it had no damage to it still looked new.

Off Road- I love the traction. Front locker is better to me for crawling and any other type. I noticed more of a difference with front locked than I did with rear only.

Lock Right well worth the money. Have a buddy with a Spartan it works just as good as the lock right but his seems to pop a little louder in the rear. (that could be brand of fluid though)
