I have never lowered an XJ and I have a 96 that is just sitting around. It has 3inch blocks in the rear and what appears to be stock springs in the front without spacers. It sits fairly level. I plan to remove the blocks lowering the rear. For the front I will cut some junk 1.5 lift springs until I get it level. Just from looking at it I will need to watch how far the axle can travel up to the pan. I also may need to cut the bump stops. The track bar may need to be shortened and the sway bar links may need to be cut. Anything I have missed?
Suggestions are welcome.

looks like most are having to do their own setup cut coils for the front and either dissessembling the rear leaf pack to remove a leaf or going with a custom leaf pack.

I say go for it. 2wd is going to make it a lot easier but 4wd lowered would be cool too

Why exactly is it a blasphemy? A person should be find to do as they please. I for one would like to see a lowered streetable cherokee. I think it would look pretty neat.

Because Jeeps are made to be off-road vehicles not lowriders, however if it is a 2wd that would be more acceptable.

No vehicle has any one purpose ever. The Cherokee is a perfect platform to lower, stock or raise.
