Default Lowering a cherokee

I have never lowered an XJ and I have a 96 that is just sitting around. It has 3inch blocks in the rear and what appears to be stock springs in the front without spacers. It sits fairly level. I plan to remove the blocks lowering the rear. For the front I will cut some junk 1.5 lift springs until I get it level. Just from looking at it I will need to watch how far the axle can travel up to the pan. I also may need to cut the bump stops. The track bar may need to be shortened and the sway bar links may need to be cut. Anything I have missed?

Suggestions are welcome.

Are you trying to lower past stock (low rider) Or do you just want the lift out to bring it back to stock?

I would like to lower it more than stock.

looks like most are having to do their own setup cut coils for the front and either dissessembling the rear leaf pack to remove a leaf or going with a custom leaf pack.

Before you commit such a blasphemy, maybe you should consider selling it and getting a Honda civic or some other import to lower.

Plenty of lifted Jeeps, plenty of lowered hondas. Not very many lowered XJ's though

I say go for it. 2wd is going to make it a lot easier but 4wd lowered would be cool too

Why exactly is it a blasphemy? A person should be find to do as they please. I for one would like to see a lowered streetable cherokee. I think it would look pretty neat.

Because Jeeps are made to be off-road vehicles not lowriders, however if it is a 2wd that would be more acceptable.

Very narrow minded point of view. Do you feel the same about when trucks or other suvs are lowered?

No vehicle has any one purpose ever. The Cherokee is a perfect platform to lower, stock or raise.

I think an XJ with a 242 lowered and outfitted properly would be a sweet backroad carver.

That is exactly where I'm going with this project. Unfortunately I just missed out on a good deal on a 242 locally.
