Lousy RC Shocks
What are your experiences with cheap rough country shocks? I ordered an RC 2 inch lift, spacer/shackles/shocks. Now, i know that reusing the old springs with 185k isnt a recipe for a great handling suspension, but i figured new shocks would help keep things in check. But now my cherokee is one hell of a bouncy ride. The shocks seem to have very little rebound dampening at all, the cherokee bucks and bounces over rail road tracks and wavy roads. Just bouncing the cherokee by hand you can feel the abrupt rebound. Is this normal with cheap rough country shocks?

its normal with any cheap shocks. Monroe has 1 and 2" labelled lift shocks at common part stores. you could try them. also sounds like your shackle angle might be off. want to post a pic? just for those of us curious..

I have longer shackles, not add-a-leafs. The shackles do have some angle to them, but the leafs have some negative arch now. It rides really rough, but i think most of the bouncing is actually coming from the front. 1 week with these shocks and its already time to change them out.
Guess i'll start upgrading again next paycheck...
What would you guys recommend for doing a low(3inch) lift that would be soft and take rough terrain at speed well?

I've heard a lot of good things about the 5100s, i think i may swing with those. Just need a nice set of 3inch coils to go along with them.

I have the RC 5" lift shocks, and the ride is fine. not a whole lot of unescesary bounce, HOWEVER< they have creeked since I installed them....lol....
I am also a very FIRM beliver in you get what you pay for. Money simply buys quality... it sucks, but its true.... good-great shocks are pretty cheap though... probably 120-160 for a really decent complete set of four....
