Looking for a shop to do a V8 swap in my 99 XJ
So the title pretty much says it all. I am currently in Del Rio TX and I am looking to swap in a V8 to my 1999 Cherokee. I have a couple of lines on engines, but I am looking for a shop to do the install. I don't have the time or the space to do it myself. Does anyone know any shops that might be able to do the swap down here in the Del Rio/ Larado/ San Antonio area?

Really a V8, so I guess your looking at a complete driveline swap as well. The the stock driveline will not hold up to the extra HP and Tq. of a V8. Have you considered a Vortec V6 instead a much better choice IMHO. The V6 swap would not be nearly the overall cost of a V8 swap unless your going a full all out Rock Crawler or Competition XJ.

Do you have 6k or higher ready to do this? The swap its self isn't all that cheap and paying for labor gets pricey fast,And like said you might wanna upgrade the axles while your at it.But for that kinda money you could buy like a bronco or k5 blazer and have it as a off road toy.

I like this too but it's you're choice.
Totally. I always find this a funny topic in a hobby where everything is optional and everything is "just for fun". In fact the whole hobby is optional. The cheapest/easiest thing to do is stay home on the couch.

ASE Website . Scroll to the middle of page, click on car owners tab (smack dab in the middle of the page almost). I had a terrible experience at my local dealership and have been looking for shops. I didn't want to go local and eventually thought to google ASE certified repair shops. The search feature confirmed my instinct of not going local as there are no ASE cert shops within about 50 miles of me! I have said it for years and now I know I am not crazy when I say Fayetteville is a BLACK HOLE! Good luck with finding a shop, might want to buy a donor vehicle for the swapping. And welcome to CF NOOB!
