Default look at my driveshaft... TC drop or just new U-joints??

so my 3" lift netted a hair over 4". im sure it was just saggy before, but it looks god now. but i do get some driveline vibes from 25-40 and then again 50-60. some say a TC drop, some say just replace the U joints. i dont wanna replace the U joints if they are just gonna get chewed up again. how does the angle loo on my drive shaft?

and if i should do i TC drop, i can make my own with square box stock, but how far should i drop it? 1"? or less than that?

on the upside, my front axle is center, and i dont have any issues in the front like death wobble or anything.

Band aids: TC drop, axle shims.
Fixes: SYE and CV DS. (the front shaft from doner)
The u joints just keep it all workin smooth. So there is a chance the old ones are wore out, but they are cheap. The more expensive part will be the SYE.

Shim the axle. Make the pinion be closer in line with the driveshaft. Probably a 4degree shim. Shims are not a bandaid. You need them with or without the SYE. Thats what I would start with. Good chance they will help with the vibration but you need them anyway for a better angle.

Bear in mind, OP is currently running Conventional Two Joint Drive Shaft.

In future, if you are running SYE with CV drive shaft, this would be your proper Geometry and adding shims will help by tilting the pinion up like this.

In the mean time (based on your situation), TC drop would be your best bet.
Read this.

Thats true but if he tilts the pinion up it will help him as well. That graph looks like it would be accurate for a Jeep that has not been lifted. The OP's driveline is probably at those angles right now. I know its not the "proper way" but it will help until he gets an SYE. Unless he goes with the tcase drop to decrease the angles.

x2 on pointing the pinion up some, i never had issues with the pinion pointing at, or just below, the tcase with a regular slip yoke DS.

well i changed my u joints today, and that helped some, but not completley.

i was gonna do a tcase drop but the ver first bolt broke off, so i spent 2 hours drilling and apping a new hole.

should i just drive it like it is for a while, maybe the suspension will settle in some and it will smooth it self out? now it only seems to vibrate from 30-35mph, feels like a stick shift driving in too low of a gear.

i can have a shop close by, heat the bolts and get them out for me if i want them too.

Yeah you need shims with any SYE so........

OP-get a 90$ HNT and a JY front shaft. Stupid easy to install and very cheap and strong.

My 3.5" netted close to 5" and 2 years later it still hasn't settled much. I just did a Rugged Ridge SYE with a Tom Woods shaft and needed 8* of shim to set the angles right. The 2.5* I had in before helped a lot with the TC drop kit.

Just my experience.

Well the vibes aren't that bad, will it hurt anything to just drive it until I get a SYE? Except maybe u-joints?
