longer shocks then lift
hey, i searched but cudnt find the info i need.. i have a 3 inch lift and need new shocks. i plan to do another 2 inches of lift in the future.. can i run 4.5-5inch lift shocks? or would that give me problems. i rather not buy 3 inch shocks, then in few months get 5inch shocks. thanks

also are nitro shocks worth the extra bucks over hydros?
|
From what I have read longer shocks on a shorter lift will mess up the shocks. Get the shocks for the right lift. Want to go higher, do it all at once.

From what I understand, hope someone else chimes in to correct me. The shock will be driving compressed, not all the way, but will be. Also giving it a more chance to bottom out. Shocks are to be compressed then released. Not having some compression constantly, hope that makes sense...

As long as its not bottoming out it will be ok..obviously not ideal.
As far as what shocks to buy..either buy crappy *** white body shocks or spend the coin on nice shocks like bilsteins. |
Not trying to pic a fight, but basically he would have to stay on smooth roads not to bottom out? Or is he okay on roads, and just worry about bottoming out while wheeling?
|
To avoid bottoming out just install longer bump stops.

thanks everyone for the responses, im gonna pull the trigger on some 4.5 shocks and do some bumpstops. i will only be rolling the 3inch lift for about 3-5 months so they wont go thru too much abuse.
