Longer Front Wheel Studs

I recently installed some fancy alloy wheels, and I am in need of longer wheel studs for the front, as the lug nuts don't have satisfactory thread engagement. The hubs are new Timkens, but I would suspect they have the same length as factory. Has anybody tried this with success http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1057992 (Is it kosher to post naxja links on CF? :dunno: ) Any other options?

For the rear I used ZJ studs to accommodate the disc brake swap and alloy wheels, those have plenty of engagement.

Thanks.

Looks good. Didn't realize those rims were so thick!

Too bad you already bought new hubs. Ordering 2003 Rubi ones would've done the trick, too lol.

Additionally - if you model year has those funny composite rotors you have really short studs. They're slightly longer on years with cast (factory started switching back in '99, I can't remember when composite started).

She's a Renix, so just the regular bits, although the hubs are a different P/N than the newer ones. I guess if that looks like a good option I'll have to make a run to the parts store soon here.

I know a Ford 8.8 rear has some pretty long studs. Not sure if they will go into the hub.

Nope, .685" knurl vs. .623. Good idea though!

That wasn't my post, just another I found when I searched :icon_cheesygrin: My rims are some aftermarket brand, not a Moab wheel. I also am not sure that all the hubs are interchangeable, as in 89' XJ to 2003 TJ Rubi...

Thanks for clearing that up.

I tried to put a '98 hub on a '89 & it would not work with the rotors '89's rotors.

01 XJ front studs are pretty long. That is what i shoved into my 8.25 shafts. I say shoved because i used a 10 ton press to press them in... I didnt pay attention to a size difference in the knurl. 01 fronts were clearly longer that the 98's original knurl size.

Might be worth the research for that. I've got a shop press, so a little extra convincing if necessary isn't a big issue.
