Default Are longer control arms necessary?

I currently have 2" coils on my xj and I have purchased some 1 3/4" coil spacers. I've read that any more than 3 1/2" requires longer lower control arms, but that was on a manufacturers website. Anybody have any experience with this? Should I wait until I can get a knew pair of lower control arms to install my spacers?

You can shin them forward considerably. Probably enough to make up for the lift.

you can but it's only about 1/3" at most...

even if you do the stock LCAs will almost be resting on the coil mounts on the axle, and as such you will have little to no down travel...

I am running JK front upper and lower control arms... there are 2 ways to do this... shorten the JK control arms to the length you need, to do this you need a welder

or

the way I did it... cut off your stock control arm mounts and make some new mounts further back on the frame... that is what i did... very happy with the results. It has great road manners and will max out a 30" shock up front... might be going to a longer shock in the future

i ran stock arms for 3 yrs on 4=5 inchs of lift. i never had any issues drivin it down the road or going to the trails. the stock arms did limit my travel for sure, but not horribly.

it is recomended at 3 inchs to get new lower, new uppers at 4.5.

New to the forums. I have a 95 xj 2 dr 2wd. I’m wanting to get a 3” lift for it and have a few questions. 1. Does add a leaf make sense with new leaf springs? 2. I’m not looking to blow a whole lot of money but don’t want to have to do this again in a few months. Any and all help or recommendations is appreciated

add a leafs never make sense unless you are going to sell the jeep real soon. Always get full leaf packs with the lift you want
