Driven two xjs, my boss's with an RE long arm, and mine with the RC cad brackets...to tell you the truth, there really isn't a huge noticeable difference...put the cad brackets on, I wouldn't bother with the long arms. You're talking like maybe a couple inches of travel difference, they both ride the same too...one is $1200, the other is 199.99, seems like a no brainer to me.

You gotta stay cool bro!...drop brackets are a big upgrade from just having a regular short arm setup and will improve ride and flex..but a long arm setup (quality long arms) will always be superior..provided they are setup right.

This guy has short arms that seem to be doing pretty well... https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f59/po...7/#post1965554

The op did not state his lift size? This information makes the world of difference when deciding which to do. And your future plans.
For instance my opinion is when you run little to no lift like myself neither is advisable because you will lose needed gc. That and the control arms are at a good angle anyways.
With a medium lift(3+ - 5) I would go with a cad because it will put your control arms at a doable angle yet give you good clearance in the center of the frame.
Over 5 and you have plenty of gc so a long arm would work great and make the most of your suspension.
Long arms are stronger and less progressive which is great, but you do lose gc. In a purpose built buggy its a non issue. But when you are adding it to the bottom of a frame you will lose a lot of gc.
Hope this helps.
