Im in the process of regearing my d44 and i got the one with 3.54 gears and i need a new carrier so instead of going that way i figured id spend the extra money for a real locker but im not sure which way i should go im on kind of a budget and im still in need of gears which brand of those im still in the air about i know im going with 4.56s but other than that im still undecided so any help is greatly appreciated

my buddy who sold me his 8.8 beat the living hell out of his yukon 4.56's from complete off road.
I havent seen the pinion yet but the teeth are in perfect shape. I'll be getting a matching set for the front.
and I'd only want a detroit for my rear axle. unless youre into that selectable stuff

USA standard gears... Randys sells them cheaper then even guys on ebay (which I found out after I payed for my 5.38's go figure)
They have the same casting as the yukons... In fact the part numbers are the same except yukons have a Y in front of it or something small like that... But they run half the price...

the front is where I might consider splurging on a selectable so I can maintain turning radius
also I think I found out why that RP is so cheap. they charge like $30 more for their install kit. probably worth it and top quality, but same price overall. for the 4.56's at least. why are the 4.56's always more expensive anyway. popularity?

Not trying to interrupt someone else's thread but I'm about to go through the same thing so I figured rather than starting a new topic id ask here I just got a nice raise at work so i figure why not put it in my jeep I'm wanting to put an 8.8 axle under it with a locker and c clip eliminator. My question is where can I find the best price on a 31 spline Detroit locker I've looked here and there with different prices but maybe someone can save me a little headache because I'm sure when its all said and done ill have more headaches than I bargained for

he's usually got the best deal out there. he also does gear work too, he's in Socal. Did the gears on my dana 30. if the locker isn't on the website you can call or email him and he should be able to get it.

if you're worried about the c-clip I'd just get an entirely different rear axle. probably end up spending less. I know the D44 is semi floating
or a 9"

I had originally thought about the d44 but I prefer disk brakes and from my understanding they all came with drums if I'm wrong please let me know and ill be back to the original plan. I'm thinking it would cost about the same to convert it to disks as a c clip eliminator for the 8.8 and I just didn't want to mess with getting a 9 cut down if I'm making a mistake here someone please stop me. I'm just going with what I've read
