Default Locker swap from one diff to another

The 3.55 rear diff in my 90 XJ has an Aussie Locker in it. I would like to take the locker out and install it in a rear diff out of an 86 XJ that has 4.11 gears in it. I want to then take this 4.11 geared diff with the locker and put it under my 90 XJ.

I totally get how to do the actual diff swap. However, I need to find out how to take the locker out of one diff and install it in the other.

very easy. all you do is take the locker apart while it is still in the carrier.
it's a bit of a tight fit, but it's the exact opposite of installation.
then just remove the spider gears in the 86 axle and start by putting the pieces in the carrier and fit it together once you get most of it in.

the locker parts will have a flat side, this makes it easier to slide in and out of the carrier.

your 90 d35 will have c-clips on the axle shafts, the 86 won't.
and not sure about the roll pins on the d35 axles. should just punch out.

Well maybe my 90 has had the rear diff swapped prior to my owning it.

I was out on a run with MUDRNR and we got to discussing diffs. I was under the impression that I had a C-Clip rearend,he pointed out to me that I don't. It's got bolts on the brake backing plate which hold the axles in.

So the locker is a straight swap? Is there any kind of clearance I need to check, adjust or anything like that?

As long as the 410 setup is right and does not need any adj it should be fairly easy. Pull the bolts holding the axle in and slide out the axles and pull the cross pin and spiders. on the one under your jeep do the same thing but pull the aussie out just make sure you remember how it looked and which way the parts were in there and then put it all back in the 410. bolt the axles back in and then put it under the chero. do you have a front to match or are you going to do the 2wd thing for a bit?

I am doing a full diff swap front and rear. My parts XJ has 4.10 in the front and 4.11 in the rear. My 90 that I drive has 3.55 gears front and rear. I just don't know when I'm gonna do it yet..

Yea I hear ya. I'm currently on a covert mission to get an 89 Mazda B2600i 4wd running. It was picked up with a blown headgasket. I'm currently waiting on parts. I would like to try to get it up and running by Christmas to give to my wife. She's knows about it but doesn't think ill EVER get it running. That's why I'm going covert on the repairs over at my moms house.

Some parts have come in,and I'm having her believe the parts are for a 72 Dodge Van I have in storage. That pissed her off because she thinks putting money into that van is pointless.
