I bought a jeep from a guy and it needs a drivers side axle seal, for the life of me I can't get the c clip out, it's a 8.25 with a lock right :/

have a helper push in on the axle shaft to hopefully remove the tension on the c clip making it easier to remove

If its anything like the spartan its an art getting them out. I had the wife get them out last time her smaller hands made it easier.

I have found it is easier to just take the locker out. Some people will disagree with me.

Take a can of brake clean and stick the straw up where the c-clip resides. Spray the hell out of the c-clip. Wiggle the axle in and out, usually they'll just fall out at that point.

Another thing to look at is if the axle bearings have been replaced with the saver/repair bearings. These will keep the axle from moving in far enough to get the clips out. You have to beat the hell out of them to get the axles in far enough. Easy to tell since you will see about 1/8" of the bearing protruding from the housing end. I just say this since I see it all the time. the parts store around here like to sell them since they have the bearing & seal in 1 unit. Most people don't know any better.
