To lock or Not to Lock?
OK so its been awhile since I have posted anything but I have some questions being a newbie. I was informed by the guy at the shop when I first purchased my jeep that after he serviced the rear diff that there was some definite wear on the pinion and ring gears due to an abundance of metal shavings inside the diff. Interested in what you guys think would be a good upgrade to the rear end. I was thinking of upgrading to a locker and upgrading the axles. I'm on a budget so keep that in mind. Im running stock gears and axles my rear is the D35 which I know a lot of people say to junk it and start over but this is a daily driver and weekend hunting rig. I have a rough country 3in lift and 32in tires. Interested in what you guys think I should throw my money at?
I appreciate the info thanks. Where would be a good place to start looking for parts. There is a local pick a part I can search for the axle housing. Also as far as a locker what do you guys think about Spartan lockers? Any other locker you would suggest?

Buy a good 8.25. And don't lock it.

Why not lock it. And for rock crawling a rear locker is better because climb your weight is mostly on the back tires

but for a DD that's seeing some light rock gardens and ledges, a front locker will be way more useful. sure a rear locker might give you some push. but first you have to mount the obstacle, and trying to mount a ledge or tricky set of rocks with an open front is beyond annoying. and trying to spot that guy is beyond annoying too
I'm a firm believer in lock the front first, but locked front and rear is ideal
