Default Lift Question?

I got this instruction with my 3 inch lift kit from Rough Country. Why does it say 3 inch front and 2 inch rear is that correct?

The rear of a vehicle usually sits higher than the front to compensate for when you load up with a trailer, passengers or etc. That is unless your rear springs are shot.

if the vehicle is usually higher in the bcd then why is the lift for the back smaller? I'm confused

The rear will be smaller because if the springs are good then it doesn't need the same amount of lift as the front. The vehicle will just be leveled with the lift installed. A couple of companies do offer more lift in the rear than front so when towing or such your vehicle will be at level stance then just like at factory height.

from the factory most vehicle designed to haul or have something in the back of them have rake. rake is when the back sits higher than the front so with a load in the vehicle it will level out and you wont sit nose in the air. rough country is compensating for that saying that the front will lift 3" from the factory height and the rear will lift 2" from the factory height making the jeep level front and rear. its the reason you see "leveling kits" for trucks that consist of a set of spacers just for the front.
