Default Lift considerations

If I were to get a lift on my Jeep (which will probably happen), what are some things that I may have to do to go in with the lift. I have read a lot about extended break lines, control arms, spacers, shocks, and things of that nature. I just want to get a general idea. I have a 96 xj and I think i will roll with either a 3 or 4.5 inch lift. I plan to keep it mainly as a dd so I'm not entirely sure. Any help would be awesome.

Id say go 3 inch and 30" tires or 31".

You wont need an SYE kit. You wont need upper control arms.

Coils, leafs, shocks, lower control arms and maybe a transfercase drop kit.

31 inch tires are generally easy to come by at my local junkyard so keep it simple and make it what you want!

Im planning on lifting my 99 was thinking lifting so I could run 31's 4.5 will take a sye and many other parts and just cost way to much. I will be going with a 3in lift cheaper and still can run 31's. And will not have to change gears.

This is a common mistake people tend to believe, you do NOT have to have a SYE and CV driveshaft with a 4.5 and hell with the 6.5 and proper shimming and t case drop you can get by without one on them.

I had a 99 sport and for 2.5 years I never put the sye and D/S on it sitting on 6.5 with 1.5 front spacers. I wheeled it almost every weekend when we had our local off road park and never once had any issues of vibes. It was my DD and I would do 75 all day long in it

just saying again most of the chatter about having to have sye and d/s are caused by opinions based on others opinions based on others. Its a never ending cycle and it causes a lot of people who dont have the $$ to drop on driveline parts to not go with the lift size they want.

I've got a 4.5 RC lift with 32's. It doesn't ride too too bad. I'm in the middle of doing some upgrades to it to beef it up a little, but the 4.5 RC lift isn't bad. i know alot of people who have it
