Default Lifing the frount of 01 XJ

A while ago I put new leaf packs in the rear and a add a leaf. Thinking that I might lift it about an inch or so. That was not the case the rear end now has about 3 inchs of lift. I have fixed the drive line issues in the rear. I am going to lift the frount soon. I am planing on buying new hd coils for the frount and a 2 inch spacer that will out me around 3 inchs.

What else will I need to do the fround end when I lift it 3 inchs?

Why wouldn't you just get 3in coils ? Or 2in coils and 1in spacer if you are concerned that your leafs might still settle a bit in which case you would just remove the spacer later on.

also may want to consider relocating or getting longer break lines if you plan to take it off road. other than that at 3" thats all you really need. adjustable track-bar may be necessary but not always.

Thank you guys for the help! the reason I am not getting 3 inch coils is mostly I do not need the flex its a DD the dose not get off road much. But when I get a new DD I will most likly get a new lift. Thank you agian for the help.

Unless running a heavy/bumper winch, you won't want/need the HD's. Maybe you do indeed have the need for them. Either way, Rustys has 3" coils for (I believe) 99 bucks for the pair. Or, yeah, do 2" coils (def. 99 bucks for the pair) and 1" spacers. But just save money and go all spring! My two Lincoln's!
At 3" in the front, an adj. trac bar, or at least relocate stock one, you will probably want longer/adj. LCA's, longer shocks, proper bump stops to prevent over compressing new shocks. No real threat of longer break lines, but you can straighten them and remount if ya want! What am I forgetting...... Oh!! Yes, haha, sway bars: disco disco, good good! Seriously, get disconnectable sway bars! Can save money by using an adaptor kit for the sway bar ends to turn them into eyelet style mount. Then use clevis pins for axle side.

Thank you for the heads up of Rusty's I figured longer springs would cost more.

Right? Ya wanna go el cheapo hit the JY. I think f250 coils give you 3" lift, BUT IM PROBABLY WRONG!! There is a good BB/JY lift thread that will clear this up. But, you want as close to OEM spec for spring rate, so find out what stock is and try to find an aftermarket spring with similar. OME is supposed to be soft..

coil spacers and new HD coils will cost more than just getting 3" coils

3" rustys coils will probably be your cheapest option. and you dont need the HD ones unless you plan to run a heavy bumper. the HD have a higher spring rate which will make the front end stiffer and not ride as smooth.

Why would you tell him to get discos when he is saying he is not going to take it off road?

why not? stock end links would be too short. sure they'll work, but they'll be too short. then the first time he does take it off road, cause we all know his buddys will entice him, he would risk breaking an end link.

go with the disconnect sway bar end links, they're usually cheaper than stock ones anyways.

It's his choice to do it or not. If he just runs with my response without knowing what a disco is and installs it anyways, is that my fault? No. Maybe you should offer advice on WHY he shouldn't, as opposed to the rhetorical question you posted?

I used coils off a 75 to 79 ford F150 that gave me a perfect 3" of lift. They are heavier springs though and it rides rougher but I like it that way. My brother had one sitting behind his shop so I got them free! can't get any cheaper than that. They were pretty easy to take off and put back on too. I'd go that route if I were you. Im sure you can find them at the JY for next to nothing.
