Default Length of DOM for WJ Swap

So I've been working on my build for the last few months, and after picking up the axle from the gear shop, all that's left is for me to start bolting it up and get the WJ steering in.

While I wait for a few things in the mail, as well as a few things to dry from being painted, I want to cut the DOM I have for the WJ steering so I can get it all welded up. My question is what length does JUST THE DOM need to be for the Draglink and Tie Rod?

I have no way to measure CTC on the old axle as its out and gone.

I'm using Ruffstuff 1 ton TRE, and the weld in bungs.

Maybe someone who has done this can chime in, again just the length of DOM without the weld in bungs. Also as far as cutting the DOM, should I mark then bring to a shop to cut on a band saw or can I do this at home with an angle grinder?

Cut nothing until the new axle with knuckles are installed.

You need it set up to measure from.

Yeah I figured that's what I was going to have to do, just wanted to get a jump start on it and get it done before the snow comes. Was hoping someone with a similar setup just had measurements.

So can I cut DOM by hand with a angle grinder or bring to a shop with a band saw?

So I still don't know how to measure to cut the DOM. The video posted above just shows them eyeing the length and cutting. How do I make sure the knuckles are both straight to measure? Or do I just clock the all one way and take that measurement? Also how do I cut them?

Thank you!

I can't tell you the length of the DOM but I can get you a measurement from center to center on tie rod ends. Ill measure mine tonight when I get home.

That might or might not help depending on the tre you used. I went out an got pvc pipe to mock it all up.

I did the wj swap a year ago and used the original wj tie rod. Cut 3.125 out of the middle and sleeved it. That got me up and running until I had time to get the DOM, 1 ton tie rod ends and tube inserts. Had plenty of adjustment.

I mocked up the tie rod and came up with 45" of actual material, not including inserts or tre's. I found a thread on Naxja that has the same setup as me and so far the lengths seem to be the same:

So got all my lengths figured for the most part. I knew I was going to have to shave the TRE's a little, I have Cragar 15" steels with 3.75bs. Below are pics of the shaved TRE's, my questions is does anyone see these being that much weaker? I really don't think I shaved that much off, just figured I'd get some other peoples opinions:

They will be fine.

Please post pics of your set up when complete.

I'll be doing the same swap soon.
