Leaf spring perch holes. what do they do?

I'm going leaf under axle in my project, and I am following the suggestion to use a new spring perch, leaving the old one where it's at just out of convenience. Even if I tried to remove it, I would probably damage it and not want to reuse it.

2.5" wide, for a 3" axle tube.

But what do the holes do? Some have one, some have three. Some have three really close together. I don't know what to buy.

I used rough stuff HD perches and plates. The extra holes allow you to move the axle forward or aft appox. 1" each way for better wheel alignment in wheel well or to stretch wheel base on big lifts. The longer perches help with axle wrap.

Those look like the stock length, just with extra holes.....

I'd use these (as was mentioned), as they are a good bit longer and stronger

The centering pin on the leaf spring........that way the leaf can't slide around if the u-bolts loosen up as easily. It also gives a reasonably consistent location for it all to be bolted together the same way every time.
