leaf spring flip-flop
soooo ive heard of such a method where one can flip the leafs on his/her XJ and accomplish around a 4" wheel base stretch from doing so? can someone chime in and back this up or maybe a brief description of the job? im planning on stretching the rear and 4 linking in the future, but if i could go ahead and stretch and just retain leafs for now, that would be ideal (mainly because of tire fit issues i will have without rearend stretch)

I'm not sure if you will gain that much of a stretch (haven't tried it on an XJ but a short bed MJ is about 5") but doing so is easy. All you have to do is connect the rear bushing to the front and the front bushing to the rear kinda flip (basically 180 degrees if you look straight down on it). I'm going to be doing this to my long bed MJ in the next few days and build from there.

You actually get 6" but you will need to comp cut the rear, move the gas tank, make new shock mounts, get a longer drive shaft and you get spring wrap.

You get the axle wrap, sorry I worded it wrong because the springs are offset and it puts more force on the front of them. You can move it about an inch and a half by drilling a new hole in the spring perch and u bolt plate. That's what I did to help center my tires in the wheel well. Keep in mind this will make the drive shaft too short and if you don't have a sye it can pull out of the t-case.
