L98 XJ Building BEBOP
So i got a 96 XJ with a 6" lift 35's and a rack lol. not much mechanically done since doing a engine swap was my thoughts from the beginning. So long story short I got a 85 corvette for pretty much free. its got a L98 in it and i was looking to swap it in place. I searched on here (not hard) but I'm looking for advice on this build.
4x4 trans used?
any special motor mounts?
Tips and Tricks for the swap?
I have the whole vehicle so i was going to research more to see if any other parts are usable from the vette for Le JEEP

I also need to be sure that those transmissions can handle my goal HP. stock engine sits at about 230HP after I redo the heads, cams, etc.. I should be sitting about 330-345HP then headers and intake polish and bolt ons "should" be sitting 360-380HP possibly up to 400HP depending the route I go with everything. but once again this is just projected at this point.
I'm also trying to figure out how to get it mounted in the bay. I know its possible It's just rare.

I would like to do a LS swap some day. Going to drive the 4.0 till it either dies first or I decide that I need more power.
Don't quote me on it but I thought that I saw somewhere that a stock 4L60 was good up to 350hp. Otherwise you could rebuild it with stronger components to handle more.
I know that there are different adapter kits to get everything mounted up. I have only looked at this briefly as I am not looking to do it any time soon. Can't wait to see what you come up with.

I wanted to do the LS1 initially but I got the L98 at a steal. and complete at that.

with the xj or the engine? if you are going to swap a tpi motor in just to modify it...you’d be light years ahead doing an lsx swap right off the bat. also i would not suggest a 4L60 trans. i’m unsure of available space but at minimum i’d put a 4L80 behind any gm v8 i wasn’t keeping 100% stock and planned on driving like an old lady.

did more research and no im leaning more towards 4L80 for future projects. however since I already have the 4L60 with a stock engine I think im just gonna run it til it blows then I'll have my 4L80 on standby. but for now to save money im gonna run the 4L60.
I need to research now the transfercase that will work best.
L98-4L60-?-
And It's also a 4L60 not 4L60E.
