You can make one work. You would have to use a different pump like an inline pump instead of an in tank pump and an adjustable fuel pressure regulator. But a lot of the old ratrods etc used kegs for fuel tanks.

If you have the equipment and the ability to weld aluminum and know how to plumb it, a keg will work. In the old days of carbs it was easier because fuel pressure was much lower, but with the proper fuel pump and regulator, it is do-able.

You also might want to consider the legal aspect. I doubt the keg will meet DOT spec and may even void your insurance.

All in all, it seems to me that it would be more trouble than it's worth, but to each his own.

It can be done..

YOu will need to have 3 bungs, plus a fill spot welded to it.

With my fuel cell I run a ford E2000 fuel pump they run around 100 bucks at parts store. Make sure you put a filter before the pump inbetween the tank and pump.

Or you can hide a real fuel cell and put the keg in there and say its a fuel cell. then when your done wheeling you will be the life of the party!!!

It's doable or else you wouldnt see them in rat rods. Just have to find someone to weld aluminum.

i've done it before with a 63 VW Baja. what you'll need...

keg
16 G sheet metal
fuel hose/grommets
eletric fuel pump to match GPM required by the Carb/EFI
inline fuel filter

cut off the taps to the keg. cap them with sheet metal. drill to holes on the side. (1 fill/1 fuel pump) weld tub to to keg for fill cap. insert grommet n hose for fuel pump. wire fuel pump, secure keg.

problem is the keg doesn't have baffles and the fuel will slosh around and potential suck air if you don't keep the tank topped off. words of expierence.
