JRC rear bumper w/hitch
I have a 1999 4dr 4wd with a 3" lift and 30" tires. It has the ax15 manual and np231. I want to be able to tow a trailer that will probably weigh 2000 pounds total. I have no hitch and I would like to buy a JRC rear bumper that has a hitch built in. I would like you guys to fill me in on how much weight the hitch on the bumper will hold. It has unibody tie-ins. I would also like to know what I will need to do in order to get the trailer lights to work.
Thanks so much!

As in tongue load? The manual states the truck can pull a 5k load with a standard receiver. I'm sure you'll be more than fine as long as you balance the trailer properly.

Okay thank you. I just received an email from JRC and they said that the built in hitch can handle more than my xj can pull. So I should he fine.
Does anyone know what to do about the trailer light wiring?

Your best solution for lights is something like this:
http://www.hopkinstowingsolutions.co...kee_97-01.html . You can get one at your local Napa store, it should be part number 755-1469 and be less than $42.00.

I had a pigtail like that on my Jeep when I got it. I was able to find a jeep from the JY that had the factory tow package on it so I snagged the tranny cooler and the pig tail off the rear for $15. Now all I have to do is hook up a brake controller and I'm set to run electric brakes because the factory setup is wired for electric brakes (7 pin connector). There's also the brake control wire already run up to the dash. Just somthing to keep in mind when you're at the JY next time.
