Default JK Rubi's to XJ

Hi,

I bought a new set of 17x7.7 44 offset Rubi's to go onto my 1996 XJ, I currently run the factory steelies at 15x7 32 offset with 31x10.5x15 and they clear just about everywhere, just rub the control arms on full lock. My XJ is lifted between 3.5'' and 4''.

I am planning to run 265x70x17 tyres as they are about the same as my 31''s just a bit taller. I have been measuring and even used this website to double check to see what adaptor/spacer I need/want to insure I don't start rubbing on the insides or stick the tyres to much past the flares, as the state I live in is pretty **** about rubber sticking out.

If you see the link, it has my current setup on the left and my new setup on the right, and I think 1'' adaptors/spacers looks like the way to go, although most times when I Google this people tend to run 1.25'' adaptors/spacers but it would make things stick out way further, with the 1'' it moves the new setup out about 1/4'' on the inside as compared to what I got now, and that’s fine. I just would like to know if others fitted the same tyre/wheel combo and what adaptors/spacers they used.

http://www.wheel-size.com/calc/?whee...cl=10mm&sr=3mm shows that if I use a 1'' adaptors/spacers my current backspace will go from 121mm to 114mm, gives me more clearance on the inside and only pushes the tyres out with in reason to keep me safe with the law. I do go offroad when I go hunting up in the hills, but nothing like rock crawling.

Thanks

They are the stock Rubicon tires 255/75/17 BFG Mud Terrains. For reference my 95 has a 3.5 RE lift with full leaf packs.

Looks like the tyres don't go past the flares much if any. I am getting 265x70x17 mud or terrains (still looking) and think a 1'' spacer will keep things safe just incase the boys in blue take a closer look as here in Australia they get all uptight about these sorts of things, this set up will move the tyres out around 10mm more as compared to what I run now, height wise there is plenty of room.
