Jeep xj 4.88 Gears help.
New to this site. Putting in the 4.88 Gears in the rear so I can run 35s but what else do I need. Like for the front and anything else for the rear?

Dana 30 3.73 carrier and 4.88 gears for the front. You might want to think about cromo shafts for the front. For that size tire if you wheel hard with a locker or heavy on the gas you will break the stock shafts.
But then again depends on how you wheel. If you're a light wheeler hmmm maybe ok

Are you having a shop install the gears? If you are asking what you need I don't think you're ready to do the regearing yourself.

Since you are new, here is a few words of wisdom. Always include as much information as you know such as year, axle types (if known, pictures if not) transmission type (auto or 5 spd) transfer case type, engine size etc.
