OP I wouldn't try driving the Jeep without the rear shaft unless you have a SYE, As others have stated you will dump all of the fluid from the hole in your tail shaft housing. Which could result it destroying the Transfer case. I would see if you could borrow cash from someone for a Tow or see if you can park it in on your friends property.

I'm going to assume your young because you had mouthed off to a L.E.O. Judging from some of the vehicles you have owned, An currently own in your signature would lead me to assume you have some $ because building up cars is not cheap and FD's are not exactly the cheapest cars to build. I don't understand how someone would not have $100 for a tow, Oh wait you have a FD RX7.
*HAD MONEY*

Noting the cars in my sig yes i had money, But in which way does this mean im young???

Aside from being snide, i do have an FD3S. And Tows arent that cheap... figure it this way

*$8.50 Per mile x 62 miles = $527.00*

Or pull the rear drive shaft and drive it like a honda for free....

Anywho, i made it home, thank you guys!!!!!

and i didnt put the front in the rear because my pinion angle in the rear is bad, hence my rear dshaft going Cato

You guys are amazing!

Wouldn't worry about it one bit since you have a sye. I drove mine like that for about 3 weeks when I sent my rear ds to tom woods to be rebuilt. It really didn't drive much different I was surprised. It may have even been wheeled and done a drunken low range 2 gear fwd burnout or two but we won't talk about that part.

Btw, on the 200rwhp Gixxer. I have a '99 Busa that makes 240 all motor. For sale too!

Edit 2, on the '03 Cobra haha

all you guys talking about the fluid do realize that a 96+ tailcone has the seal to the output shaft and wont leak if you pull the DS, right? I know OP has an 89, im just getting the feeling that some of you would have said that either way

A SYE is a slip yoke eliminator. Stock from factory all cherokees had a slip yoke (part where the driveshaft goes into the transfer case 4WD or transmission if you have a 2wd) When you lift the vehicle it can put a bad angle on the drivshaft and ujoints and also cause the slip yoke to pull out too much and can cause vibs. With a SYE (slip yoke eliminator) it gets rid of the slip yoke and puts a solid mounted yoke that wont slip in and out as the vehicle articulates. Instead you have to run a CV shaft instead of the solid one piece driveshaft from factory. Thats the jist of it,
