Default Jeep efficiency

I'm considering replacing my injectors, installing roller rockers, valves and anything else that would make my 4.0 run a little smoother. Is there anyone that has done stuff like this or knows anything else that can help the efficiency of my Jeep. I want it to be powerful but it's my daily driver and I'm a college student so I can't spend too much money doing it.

Cat-back exhaust, header, cold air intake, 63mm TB, hotter ignition coil for bigger spark plug gaps, SN high efficiency oil. Horse power isn't cheap but it's worth it. I just put a header on my 89 and have felt an up in power (not much) and MUCH better MPGs.

I think it's mostly preference. If you're willing to pay $400+ I would thing either would do.

But for $160 you can get a stainless "factory replacement" which is the same design as the torque tube type. Lots of people recommend these too.

or you can go on summit and get them for $325 for the set. and it does not cost a couple grand to get a head redone, thats for an all aluminum head. to get it redone might cost $500 with new springs and original valves and getting completely cleaned.

Is it difficult to DIY? Not exactly trying to spend 500 bucks for something I've seen done rather easily in JP mag.

Thanks guys. I probably won't have an update for you until the summertime. Still looking for a new job. Took a risk by spending a little more on BFG's...then hours got cut back. Always happens like that.
