Noobie 1st post here... REALLY new to Jeeps..

As I ponder through different websites for lifts, I've came up with a couple quick questions. First one being, the rough country 4.5" Sups lift http://www.roughcountry.com/jeep-sus...kit-623n2.html is this a COMPLETE lift? Everything I'd need to get for a start to finish lift in this kit? This is my DD & I can't have it parked waiting on parts.

Second question, with the stock gearing & a 4.0HO, will 32-33s be a dramatic loss of power or is it liveable in the 60-65mph area & 4LO wheeling?

First, good luck with your first XJ build. Bottom line the RC lift will get u lifted with the addition of new leaf spring centering pings, a can of PB blaster and the correct tools however I would not consider this a "compleat" lift. The kit is missing several key items you will need to get your jeep functioning properly at 4.5" of lift (adjustable track bar, bump stops, extended bracket lines, slip yoke eliminator or transfer case drop). This would be an ok option if your comfortable with upgrading components ($$$) as you dial in the lift.

I apologies up front but I am going to start from bottom. When determining the proper lift for your application the first step is to determine the goal of your build. Do u want to build a mall crawler, rock buggy or a comfortable daily drive that u can wheel on the weekend? Once u determine your goal you can begin to identify your build requirements and budget. We would all love to run coil over suspension on dana 60s but the simple fact is most of us don't need to run 37" tires and aren't willing to commit the massive budget to do so.

To re-attack your original post it sounds like your goal is to build a daily driver to do something but you didn't specify what. What kind of off roading do u want to do? What ride quality do u want? Based on the lift u picked out it sounds like you are running on a limited lift budget, under $500. If your set on running a 4.5" lift and u want a full kit that will ride well on road and function properly off road your RC kit does not fit the bill. At 4.5" you will probably want coils/coil spacer, long shocks, leaf pack, lower control arms, extended sway bar links, proper bump stops, extended brake line, sye and a bunch of random hardware. If your constrained by a $ 500 budget and u want a complete lift you may want to look for something under 3.5". At 3.5" you will run into less issues with brake lines, drive lines and stering components.

My 2 cents. If anyone would like to fill in gaps or correct me if you have more feedback please do.

Great thread. To give perspective, my daughter's DD, which is also the family trail toy (She's a girly girl who wanted a gnarly Jeep! Yes, I have the coolest daughter.) has the lift described/shown below, and we love it. Ordered all RE components from SeriousOffroadProdoucts.com, who had it shipped quick. We really liked their no nonsense approach. Choose what you want, put it in the cart, pay, they ship it. If someone needs hand-holding before ordering, probably not the site for you.

The RE 3.5 sits quite a bit higher than the average comparable lift. Before it settled some, you would swear it had a lot more lift than 3.5".

Tires are 32x11.5 Deegan 38's. On pavement, it did fine without trimming. It would only very slightly rub at full lock on a decline/bump. We did trim before we trailed it though, so can't speak to that.

I beat ya too it, just got done installing my Metalcloak kit acutally, haha.

Nice job on the list man. I did notice that the skyjacker website is "jacked up" though. You can find better pics and info on their lifts on the quadratec site. Pull up a lift for a 92 xj and you get some crappy 2 or 300 dollar kit and no other options.

I am planning on running through it soon. Thanks man for the heads up!
