Need more extensive reviews on mfg/parts and shock stiffness.

I am looking at getting a 4.5" lift but I want a decent/softer shock for on road.
I've had gas shocks in the past and didn't like 'em. Though not sure if it was specific to mfg valving or dampening/rebound rates.

Also would like to know long term how parts fare. Do they fall apart, are they only good on or off-road?
Need to help a knucklehead like me figure out which path to take.

Zone Offroad makes some great products for people on a budget. They are owned by BDS.

http://zoneoffroad.com/prod-display?ca=1&ma=6&mo=62

4.5 inch lift- $495.99
3 inch lift- $290.66
2 inch lift- $251.46

I have the 3 inch lift and it's been on my XJ for 8 months. No issues at all. I love it and it flexes great.

ive been looking around for a new lift for a while. currently i have a 3.5 lift with 31X10.50s. i dont want to go really big and i dont want to size up my tires just yet, (i got brand new ones less than a month ago)
i was looking at the 4.5 on the site above and was looking for opinions on it. my jeep is my DD but i also do a fair amount of rough four wheeling. how well do you think these will work?

I use my Jeep as a DD and weekend wheeler. I've done some pretty crazy stuff in my XJ and the suspension has held up great. I'm talking hitting whoop sections on a dirtbike track doing 45, Ive jumped it, I flex the suspension out at least once a month, I've hit the trails with it, and I even go on those nasty michigan roads that are the equivalent to Moab rock crawling. I've never had an issue, my suspension doesn't sag, etc. The 4.5 inch lift should take the abuse just fine
