JCR T-case skid
Hey all,
I tried installing the skid today and the nutserts are absolute garbage and spin out so I am unable to use them or bolt the skid up. The kit doesn't come with extra ones so looks like I have to spend even more money to finish installing the skid. My question is: if I get a piece of metal flatbar and drill holes in it to match the existing holes in the frame rail, can I drill those holes all the way through and put a bolt straight the the frame rail? If that doesn't make any sense, what I'm getting at would be something similar to TnT's skid. The skid and an outer plate samwhich the frame rails....this seems like my only other option thanks to these bull**** nutserts...Any help would be appreciated.

Have you called Eric at JCR and asked them what to do? They will more than likely have a better idea of how to solve your problem than anyone on this site, seeing that they build them. Think maybe that would be the smartest way to go.

Its actually not a bad idea to drill all the way through, it makes it much stronger. I have had to do it a few times on other XJs.
It takes some more work but you dont have to worry about your skid plate falling off or coming loose from the nut inserts coming loose as much.
