jcr offroad sill reinforcement (nut strips)
 

I installed a hitch this week and used this product. I'll be honest, I'm not very impressed with it. they are paper thin and are basically one time use. after tightening a bolt down once the threaded cylindrical portion broke loose and simply spun in circles the second time. they didnt cost much, for obvious reason. the holes didn't line up anywhere close to my xj or the hitch mounting tab. I made everything work but am disappointed, tbh. using these as "reinforcement" on a class iv 5k lb hitch is quite funny. i got them not for towing, but bc I needed something to pull from on the back of the jeep that was not the leaf spring shackle. had I known they were this flimsy and generally uncooperative I would've had some made.

Did you get them directly from JCR? The ones I received were 1/8" steel with 1/2" nuts welded on. They were as good or better quality than the rusty POS they replaced, and seemed well built (considering they are simply nuts welded to a price of steel). So far they've been installed for 2 years without issue.

yes I got them from jcr. my nuts (ha) were not welded, they were pressed in and crimped. they were indeed 1/8" steel, but they are very soft.

After looking at the photos on their website, those are definitely different than the pair I purchased. The manufacturing process appears to have changed for the worse.

I needed nuts trips too, one look at JCR's new ones(the ones you got with nutserts) and I knew I didn't want them. There's a few companies that make them like JCR's old style. Area Fab is one, where I got mine from.

I wish I hadn't been so impatient and found something else to use. I'm heavily considering replacing them with a homemade piece. just wanted to post up my experience and a potential warning to anyone searching for info on them. everything I looked up raved positively about these.

I bought these from 4wd parts They are the same as OME, I ended up just cleaning up the threads on my old ones and am saving the ones I bought for my sons trailer hitch on his XJ.

Look at the bright side, they shouldn't be hard to make, and you've already got a template to follow.

I hope JCR doesn't start cheaping out on their other products. I've so far been pretty happy with the other stuff I've bought from them.

When I got my Liquid Iron Industries leaf sliders, they came with the new style JCR nut strips. Stupid things didn't fit in the crossmember hole so I had to bend it. Even after that, had the same problem with them spinning and now my whole suspension is wrong! :brickwall: None of them line up right now. Really expect more from JCR :thumbdown:

I have Ares Fab's new bumper mount/nutstrips and they are sturdy. weighing about 3 lbs a piece. You have to massage the openings a bit, But i am very impressed.
